Twenty-plus years in financial services technology. Before the polished LinkedIn version: I got into this industry because credit unions are the right answer for a lot of Americans who keep getting handed the wrong deal. I'm still here because that hasn't changed — and because the fight to keep CUs relevant in the digital era is genuinely hard and genuinely worth having.
The Professional Record
I currently serve as SVP of Product Delivery and Digital Bank at a Texas-based credit union navigating a significant merger and rebrand. I own the digital bank, account opening, engagement, money movement, and digital marketing. Prior stops include Connexus Credit Union as Director of Digital Banking and Boeing Employees Credit Union as Senior Product Strategy Manager, where digital transformation initiatives ranged from chatbot deployments to video banking.
I serve on the Glia Technical Advisory Board, which puts me at the intersection of contact center technology, AI-assisted member service, and digital engagement strategy — a vantage point I bring into everything I write here.
Doctoral candidate, Executive DBA — University of Houston (expected May 2027). Dissertation focus: digital banking feature prioritization in small to mid-sized U.S. credit unions under $10 billion in assets.
The Military Record
U.S. Army veteran. The "trenches" in the name of this blog is a dual reference — the literal trench warfare framing for the competitive environment CUs operate in today, and a nod to years of service. It shapes how I think about leadership, risk, preparation, and what it means to hold a line under pressure.
Why This Blog Exists
Most credit union industry writing falls into two buckets: vendor-sponsored content that exists to sell something, or academic papers that never reach the practitioners who need them. I'm trying to occupy the space in between — rigorous enough to be credible, plain enough to be useful.
"You don't win the digital war by having the most features. You win it by knowing which ones matter for your members and executing them without excuses."
Academic Credentials
